How it works
Hydro Recovery accepts untreated high total dissolved solids fluids ("HTDSF") otherwise known as drilling fluids, “frac water,” “flowback water,” “production water,” and other liquid waste such as top-hole water, tank cleanings, frac sand, etc. from natural gas companies drilling in the Marcellus Shale Formation. The frac water is then treated for reuse in fracing future wells.
The Hydro Recovery process removes suspended solids and other contaminants. The resulting HSF™ saves chemical additives in the fracking process, provides maximum protection of the gas reservoir and prevents scaling. When compared to blending and recycling flowback, HSF™ protects the gas reservoir by:
- Avoiding scale caused by Iron and other materials
- Reducing hydro fracturing chemical use
- Optimizing pH
- Removing Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
- Controlling bacteria
HSF™ is "not considered a waste" by the PA Department of Environmental Protection once it is used for hydraulic fracturing downhole.
